P6/5 Class Newsletter Term 3 Update
Literacy
We will be putting our literacy circles into motion, the children will work in pairs doing different tasks and at the end of the lesson will come together to share their learning with the group for the chapter they have read. Each week they will have a different task card.
In writing, we be starting the term looking at narrative writing creating descriptive settings and characters. We will also be writing a recount of an event towards the end of term.
The class will also prepare a group talk where they will work with others to research and create engaging slides to deliver to the class.
Numeracy
We will be collecting and displaying data using a variety of different graphs and charts. Continuing to develop the times tables and practicing a variety of strategies to support questions using the four operations. Using mathematical language when looking at chance and probability. Calculating the volume of cubes using l x b x h.
Health and Well-being
Our P.E days will be Monday outdoors and Wednesday indoors, and we will be doing netball and athletics this term and when motivational Monday starts, Friday will be our outdoor slot. Children can continue to attend school wearing their gym clothes with their school jumper and can bring a change of shoes if needed. Please ensure that your child does not wear jewellery to school on P.E days.
Topic
Our topic this term is Mary Queen of Scots we will be exploring historical events that took place during her life. Making comparisons between what life was like back then and what life is like now. Finally important figures in Mary Queen of Scots life.
Science
In science we will be looking water looking at water conservation, the journey water takes to get into houses and water filtration. We will also be looking at the human body with a focus on human skeleton, circulatory systems, the digestive system and the organs.
